A Note to Educators From Michael Pearson
If you are reading this, I can only assume that you are interested in improving your mathematical problem-solving ability. Whether you are a teacher, parent, or student, problems developed through the MAA American Mathematics Competitions (AMC) offer you an opportunity to gain familiarity with the core concepts and ways of thinking that those of us in the math sciences community believe are essential ingredients to succeeding in STEM fields. The MAA is delighted that Edfinity has developed AMC Advantage to provide easy access to the MAA AMC archive, and we're pleased to have licensed archival AMC materials. We expect to continue to work with Edfinity to ensure fidelity to our shared goal to "advance mathematics," and to offer suggestions for future enhancements to the AMC Advantage platform.
I invite you to explore other resources as well, such as MAA's Curriculum Inspiration, developed by James Tanton and also based on MAA AMC materials, designed with the same end goal and also explicitly mapping MAA AMC content to the Common Core State Standards in Mathematics.
Whether you are here to prep for this year's MAA AMC contest, or simply looking for great problems and a fun way to up your mathematical game, I know you'll find great problems here that span all areas of pre-collegiate mathematics. So relax and enjoy the scenery as you expand your mathematical horizons!
